Head Board is DONE!

So I have finished the headboard for our bed with a little help from the husband.  He bought a piece of wood board and we mounted the pallet pieces to that instead of a frame like you saw in the previous post.  Here are the pictures of the head board as well as the other 2 items that I finished a couple years ago.  We now have a full bedroom set.  They are not identical pieces, but you would never know since the stain is all the same color.  I kept a few of the extra left over pallet pieces and plan on using those to make a wall mounted coat hanger or picture hanger.  I will post that far far later.

More Crafty from the occasional will come in the next months.

Slowly Moving Forward

So I promise I am making progress on this head board, but in Hot Texas weather, it requires me to wake up early to do any of that.  And my fat pregnant self ain't up for that right now.  Today was a better day so I was able to sand and stain the frame part of the head board that will hold the pallet parts.  The frame part is also from left over wood as well.  I will post pictures as soon as I remember to charge the camera battery.  Here's to gettin' this thing done before JR. makes his way to the world!

The Pallet Headboard Cont...

So here is where I am now on the Pallet headboard that will "match", at least color wise, to the other bedroom furniture that I have refinished.  I don't have a picture of the pallet, but I hope you know what a pallet looks like.  It wasn't and was to some extent easy to pull the pallet apart.  Required some elbow grease, hammer and a circular saw.  Here are some before stain, after stain, and the cutting and fitting of the boards on a wood frame.

Generally this is what it will look like.  I have to sand the seams, ends and sand and stain the natural wood so it matched the rest.  More to come when I get that far since at 30 weeks pregnant, things take a little longer.

The Beginning of the Head Board

So I finally started on my pallet headboard.  Just as I do, I get a head cold, but no worries the project goes on.  I have taken apart the pallets, (2) and found that for a queen head board I only need the one.  It was a nicer pallet with thicker boards on it.  With the pallet taken apart, I have also sanded the boards to get them to a better state for staining and clear coating.  I don't have pictures of the pallets before and that is ok since most people know what a pallet looks like.  I will have pictures up soon of the rest of the project though.

Like I Said...

I really am the occasional crafter.  I am working on blocks right now for my daughter and they were supposed to be for Christmas, but as you can see they are not done and niether is the headboard.  I am getting there.  Full time worker and full time mom take a lot of time.  But I will get there!
